How to make Christmas card photos with AI

An AI portrait can be the starting point for your holiday card. Create the photo in XmasPhotoAI, then add your greeting and arrange the card in your preferred design tool.

1. Choose a photo that already feels like you

Start with a sharp, well-lit selfie, couple photo, family portrait, or pet picture. If the card should include several people, choose one image with everyone already together. XmasPhotoAI does not assemble separate headshots.

Check faces at full size and avoid heavy filters or motion blur. Our family-photo guide and pet-photo guide explain subject-specific checks.

2. Create and inspect your free preview

Upload a JPG, PNG, or WebP up to 10MB and create one free watermarked portrait. Keep the page open during generation. The festive setting, clothing, and lighting may change, and AI can also alter facial details.

Before downloading, check every face, the number of people, hands, paws, and any visible text. Choose a result that looks right to you rather than assuming the AI preserved everything.

3. Choose the image you want to use

The free portrait includes a watermark. If you want more options without watermarks, the optional $5.99 collection includes 20 HD scenes. Download an individual favorite or the collection, and inspect the chosen file at full size.

HD describes the download offer; suitability for a particular print size depends on the actual image dimensions and the crop. Check those dimensions in your device’s image information before ordering prints.

4. Place it in a card design

Open a card editor such as Canva, or use a layout from your printer. Upload your finished portrait there, choose a card orientation, and add your greeting separately.

  • Keep faces away from the trim edge. A printer may crop more tightly than the editor preview.
  • Leave breathing room for the greeting instead of covering a face with text.
  • Check portrait versus landscape cropping before committing to a template.
  • Proofread names and the message in the card editor. Do not depend on AI-generated lettering in the photo.

5. Check the final card before sharing or printing

For a digital greeting, preview the exported card on your phone so faces and lettering remain readable. For print, follow the printer’s requested resolution, dimensions, bleed, and file format. Inspect its proof and resolve any low-resolution warning.

XmasPhotoAI creates downloadable image files. Card layouts, printing, postage, and physical gifts are separate services. See Christmas photo examples for inspiration and service terms for details.
